2006... what a funny year..

2006 is a really funny year. New life, new developments, new direction in life, new resolutions, basically a whole new me.

The year began with Project Leo. What's Project Leo, you might ask if you haven't known me pre-2006. In brief, Project Leo is an attempt to develop a true Tokusatsu/live-action hero program Singapore. Something that would aim to kickstart a general Singaporean interest in similar productions from Japan. However, our aggressive start was slowed by the departure of our Project Head Kee Liang into 2 years of National Service, and two other important personnel to overseas to further their studies. We hope to be able to continue Project Leo again, as aggressively as before once Kee Liang is out from NS.

Then came CIBTC June 2006. Though I didn't like CIBTC very much, I made many good friends in there. Learnt a whole lot of new stuff in CIBTC too. In fact, I probably learnt more useful stuff during ATC than during RC and NRC combined. It's probably because only during ATC you get to apply the skills learnt in RC. Through CIBTC I learnt one very important ideal I go by these days - Flexibility. Some people I know just don't exercise enough flexibility when it comes to organising events and etc, but let's not get into that, that was 2005's problem.

SINGAPORE VS CHINA. The football match of the year. No goals during the match, though we came close with a goal which was deemed offside (Referee kayu). I swear he was kayu. A lot of flak received from the China fans, and a lot of nationalist issues cropping up during the match, due to the fact that the China coach angered Singapore fans with the '4 Golden Eggs' incident and their overwhelming arrogance. For more information you might wanna refer to my June post about the match. Got a lot of angry responses from Chinese nationals in the comments section.

Three months of wearing a drill cloth as a CI Trainee came to an end with the Passing Out Ceremony on 23 June 2006. Finally, the day had come when two of my personal goals in NPCC were achieved: 1) To wear the pip on my shoulder, 2) To wear the No.1 Ceremonial uniform.

Welcome back to unit! The entire week after POC I was pretty busy, going down to unit almost everyday as Speech Day was on the next Saturday right after POC. Due to SYFOC 2006, I was the only CI down at unit on the actual day, which was 1st July. That was my first official active duty as a unit CI.

During this period of time TokuAsia had like a billion outings to China Square Central. Every Sunday we'd be there, looking out for good bargains, criticizing expensive prices, wow-ing at cheap prices, but rarely buying anything.

Welcome to Area 10!! My first ATC as a CI, 8 - 10th September 2006. It was really fun, check out my post on ATC sometime in September. Had a great time working with my fellow Area Instructors, CIs and HOs alike.

"Unseen Vacancies + No Crown, No Gown Princess". This was the one of the best days in the year for me. NPCC Officers Day Awards Presentation Ceremony, held at Suntec International Convention and Exhibition Centre Ballroom 1, on the 29th of September 2006. This was the day we wow-ed NPCC officers with playing our songs. Hopefully we can play again at the same event next year.

Ok, Roti Prata. People who don't understand might ask me why I put a picture of Prata when talking about the Year 2006. Let me tell you why - TokuAsians CRAVE for Prata. I don't know how this obsession started but WE NEED OUR PRATA. And Bundaberg Root Beer to go with it. We don't know how this came about but it just did. The best prata stall in Singapore is.... *drum rolls* Abdus Prataraja at Lau Pa Sat. Go, go help the Uncle make money. He makes good Prata. So good that everytime I type Prata in here it has to start with a capital P.

The most important event this year. Definitely the TokuAsia 1st Anniversary Dinner on 18th November. Organizing this event was no easy feat. We started planning for the dinner in August, and we are so glad, it finally came and gone. The event was a success BUT the unhealthy gender balance really needs to be sorted out.

Ultra Brothers of TokuAsia. The classic brotherhood of Ultra heroes is immortalized by TokuAsia personnel in my biggest fanfiction project this year - The Ultra Brothers.

ATF Trainer Course 2006!! Becoming an ATF Trainer is not easy, but I am glad I did pass the course. Made many new friends and strengthened old friendships. Had fun working with the NCDCC guys too. They were extremely 'On' if you get what I mean.

30th HOBTC ATC ATF. We conquered the Team Challenge Pyramid. This is one of my greatest achievements this year. Aaron, Farith, Weiwei and myself, together with Rayyan as our accompanying instructor. We spent 3 hours in total up on the tower, including resting time, and about 2h15min to successfully climb to the top of the tower. This activity really challenges your wits and ability to work as a team, I'm glad we could do it.

Check me out as I mess with Gareth's TV set at TokuAsia's X'mas Eve gathering. Asked Princess along but she couldn't make it. Never mind, lol. We ATTEMPTED to balance the unhealthy gender balance here, but we failed. Only David's girlfriend turned up. Well it was fun, we played PS2 and watched Dekaranger, Tiga and Gaia. After that we went for a Prata outing to Serangoon Gdns Prata House. Reached home around 4.30am that night.

Well, the year's nearly rounded off now. Only left with tomorrow's Lau Pa Sat+Fireworks outing with TA. Hahaha, we know of an extremely good place to watch the fireworks but I'm not telling. Don't want to brave crowds at our own secret location.

Here are the toys I bought this year:

5 stupid black dogs

went to discuss about the TokuAsia.com domain with Gan, Huang, Gareth and Gan's friend, Terence, the guy who's helping us with the domain deal. Ok, the funny thing was all of them were from CDS Changi Naval Base, so being the only Police guy there I felt really left out when they talked about CDS, but being used to talking about military stuff I soon found my ears listening on them. lol.

ok, domain deal settled, and now on to david's shop to discuss the splitting of cost and to formulate our method of payment for the rest of the years to come. We came up with a 'Corporate-style' shareholding format, in which, the person who pays the most will be at the top of the hierarchy, and so on. You get the drift. So as of now, TokuAsia will be sort of, governed like a corporate organization with an extremely clear-cut hierarchy.

so after that was done and we continued chatting off about random Tokusatsu stuff, we were rudely disturbed by a bunch of juvenile delinquents. to the best of my memory, let me recall what they looked like..
let's see... besides the fact all of them were wearing black from head to toe..
Idiot No.1 was male, carrying a guitar, he looked quite normal
Idiot No.2 was also male, also carrying a guitar, but instead he looked like a blue-hair version of Paul Twohill. Not dark ink blue, but Care Bears' type of blue. So sissy.
Idiot No.3 was also male, he had a lot of piercings on his face
Idiot No.4 was ALSO a male, but he had a really STUPID and DUMBASS look on his face as he passed the shop
Idiot No.5, finally, the only one of their group who was a female, nothing wrong with her except she was hanging out with the wrong company
See, what they did was, they probably saw the expensive MIB DRAGONZORD on display and one of them got so excited he started singing "Go Go Power Rangers! You Mighty Morphin Power Rangers!" so loudly. Nothing wrong with that, but he got so out of tune, wah lao, please lah. Carry guitar and all that, walking around like that I'd assume you were in a band. With that kind of voice, seriously la brother, your band can close shop already lah.

After that, I turned around to see what the common was, I saw Idiot No.4 literally pressing his face against the transparent plexiglass wall of the shop! Wah lao! Retarded face already still press on the wall! If not transparent never mind, but wah lao!! Can see your stupid expression and retarded KICK ME face there, who don't want to go outside and kick your stupid ass?! The idiots seemed to be mocking us from outside but us, being sensible fellows, didn't do anything to those kids. If we decided to beat the crap out of them maybe they'd be crawling home in shame!!

a special police christmas

The prequel to Special Police Dekaranger, a 2007 series which I will be doing, is up at TokuAsia. It is also a Christmas Special. I typed it entirely in one day.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
The Christmas Special, titled A Special Police Christmas, features only three scenes.
Scene 1, where the three existing SPD officers, Gareth, Liwen and Van, have some casual chit-chat before leaving the office,
Scene 2, where Meng Yeow has a chat-cum-serious discussion with SPD High Commissioner Horus-seijin Numa O, and
Scene 3, where the team has their Christmas Eve dinner interrupted by an unknown Alienizer

Timeline
It takes place in December 2004, whereas the actual series takes place from April 2005. Do check it out, it's only 15 minutes long!

A Special Police Christmas, is a liquid.panorama production.

Special Police Dekaranger will premiere in early 2007. The official website can be accessed here.

hope road uk

The excellent writer Scott Harris asked me to help him with the promotional video to his upcoming medical drama, Hope Road.

Story
In the near future, mankind has overcome a number of diseases once thought incurable. However, an event referred to as the 'Big Drop' unleashes a whole army of new illnesses. In response, Hope Road is established, with a main base, HR Central, located on an island somewhere on the Equator. Meanwhile, Scott Harris has just completed his residency and joined the surgical team at Hope Road UK, where he is about to realise that routine medical cases are the least likely challenge he'll face.

This is the trailer I did for Hope Road.

congrats Ace

5th Brother Ace, Lim Wei Jie, passed his N Levels today and can be promoted to Sec 5.

Congrats Ace!! Ultra Brothers will always be supporting you!!

Here's Ultraman Ace's opening song to celebrate!!

losing faith...

I wish I didn't have to say this. I'm losing faith in her. Tried to rectify the situation but negative results continue to show. She's always giving this and that reason. Tried to understand, tried so hard but well, no matter how strong and committed I could ever be, I guess I just can't be anybody's hero, not just like that. Loving her taught me a whole lot about love I never did understand. I still do carry feelings for her, but it's slowly fading. If only she could clear my doubts now...

Anyway, on a lighter note. Ultraman Gaia Episode 1 - Sora Kara no Raishuu (Attack from the Skies) premiered on TokuAsia today. Check it out at TA.
Official Gaia website is at: http://www.freewebs.com/gaiarevolution
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
It had a delayed production for over 1 year. Terrible right? I could have released it earlier but I wanted to keep it to the 17 December premiere date as a nod to my buddy for 5-6 years, yah, M.Y. buddy. LOL. Hooo. Who else, Gan lor. He plays Agul in the series that's why. Totally overshadows main character right? Sorry Gareth. LOL.

Speaking of fanfics, there's still a hell lot to be done for the pre-production stage for Special Police Dekaranger. Maybe I'll create another blog to document how I came up with the ideas for the episodes. Hmm, should apply this to all the fanfiction series I do, so that I can understand where my ideas come from and how the F I actually link them up.

Special Police Dekaranger is going to be a real expensive fanfic, and I mean freaking expensive for a damned story which is just made of up words on online forums. I'm not gonna rival Ah Cheng's GSD: FOL for the most expensive fanfic ever produced but it's gonna be a real pity if it wasn't made into an actual show when TA really does become big. We do this stuff cause we really want to see them made into actual programmes, you see.

I'm still looking for some external, non-Dekaranger cast though. Ehh.. Volunteers only ah! Official casting call will be out sometime end of this month or early next month. Interested please drop me a line for priority. Should only be using your names in the stories but it would be better if I can actually do on-scene shots to go along with the story flow, since SPD would be a partially plainclothes department.

Let's see, on the current 'Bought' list..

Items:
Nametags x3 - $7.50
Sgt Rank x2 - $10.20
SSgt Rank x1 - $7.20
Insp Rank x1 - $10
SPF Collar Badge (1 pair) - $9
SPF Good Svc Medal - $12

SP Licenses x2 - $60
Master License x1 - $30
Sticker paper (1 set) - $15

Between Gan, Gareth and I we have spent a running total of $160.90, for the Special Police Dekaranger series. Counting out the cost of the SP/Master License toys, I'm the one who has spent the most, but it's okay, considering the passion I have for the SPF. Can still keep the stuff for collection.

Still have more stuff to buy......
